Building on a long tradition of intellectual innovation, the faculty of Literature and Humanities began its academic activities with German Language and Literature program in 1977. After the Islamic revolution of 1979, the activities of the faculty develop and currently with 13 departments, it hosts almost 150 faculty members and a large number of undergraduate and graduate programs covering a vast range of academic fields and specialties. Aiming at educating proficient human resources in humanities and social sciences, the faculty’s academic departments provide some rigorous programs of undergraduate and graduate studies in the following disciplines: Arabic Language and Literature, English Language and Literature, Persian Language and Literature, Russian Language, Education Sciences, Economics and Accounting, Geography, Law, Management, Political Sciences, Quranic Sciences and Hadith, Sociology and Islamic Theology. As one of the largest schools of the country with about 6000 enrolled students who study in different BA, MA, Ph.D. and postdoctoral programs, the faculty of Literature and Humanities tries to offers facilities including 7 labs, 2 research centers and 1 library in order to strengthen humanistic skills of the undergraduates and give new opportunities to dive deeper into the relative disciplines. It also houses AZFA Center as a developed center of teaching Persian language for international students.
