Department of Pure Mathematics
About
Initially, the department of Mathematical Sciences was founded in 1977 as a part of the Faculty of Basic Sciences. Upon the division of the Basic Sciences Faculty into two independent faculties in 2010, the Faculty of Mathematical Sciences was established. Currently, the faculty has more than 800 students and 29 academic members who are known nationally for their high-level and prolific research activities. Mathematical research at the faculty is focused mostly on topics in pure and applied mathematics. As one of the four departments in the faculty (statistics, pure mathematics, applied mathematics, computer science), the pure mathematics department is the oldest department of the faculty, and the main research activity of the faculty members in it is based on fundamental mathematics and expanding the boundaries of science.
