About

 
The Faculty of Basic Sciences started its activity in education already from 1977 in 4 educational categories: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. The Department of Biology is one of the largest and oldest educational institutions at University of Guilan. The Bachelor’s in Biology degree offers students an outstanding education in the field of life sciences, and gives
them an excellent preparation for their future careers in biological and health-related sciences. As Biology major, you will develop basic competence and knowledge of biological sciences, including Cell and Molecular Biology, Genetics, Ecology, Zoology, Plant Biology and Marian Science. The Department of Biology also trains graduate students including MSc and PhD students and has unique research and study environments. It trains students in the field of Cell and Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Animal Cell and Developmental Biology, Animal Systematic and Ecology, Plant Physiology, Plant Systematic and Ecology, and Marian Biology for MSc students. The PhD study fields include Biochemistry, Marian Biology, Cell and Developmental Biology and Molecular Genetics. As of 2023, the Department have over 700 students and 30 academic staff.
