According to the latest results of the Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject 2026, the University of Guilan achieved recognition in four subject areas. The university was ranked 601–800 in Engineering, 801–1000 in Physical Sciences, and 1001+ in Life Sciences. Notably, for the first time, it was also ranked 801–1000 in Social Sciences.

It is worth noting that the Times Higher Education international ranking system evaluates university performance across 11 subject areas based on five main criteria: Teaching, Research Environment, Research Quality, Industry, and International Outlook.
