On the sidelines of the 28th General Assembly of the Association of State Universities and Research Centers of the Caspian Region, hosted by Yessenov University in Aktau, Kazakhstan, Dr. Ali Basti, President of the University of Guilan, met with Dr. Yermek Nurmaganbet, Acting President of Yessenov University. The meeting focused on expanding scientific and international research cooperation and strengthening ties between researchers at the two institutions.

Pointing to the University of Guilan’s academic and research capabilities, Dr. Basti stressed the need to shift from conventional academic exchanges toward the implementation of targeted joint projects. He identified marine research, environmental studies, and other areas of shared scientific interest as key priorities for expanding bilateral cooperation.

Dr. Nurmaganbet welcomed closer scientific ties and recognized the value of collaboration in facilitating the exchange of expertise among faculty members and researchers from the two countries. He also underscored the importance of pursuing practical strategies to draw on the specialized capabilities of both universities and advance joint scientific initiatives.

Other topics discussed included strengthening research partnerships, exchanging scientific expertise, fostering closer connections among faculty members and researchers, and identifying common areas of interest for collaborative research projects.

The meeting also included a visit by Dr. Basti to Yessenov University’s Technopark in Aktau, where he learned about the university’s technological achievements and assessed potential opportunities for cooperation in research, technology, and innovation.
