As part of efforts to develop international scientific and educational relations, the University of Guilan hosted a delegation from Astrakhan State University in Russia. During this meeting, both institutions underscored the importance of expanding cooperation in research, education, and student exchange programs.
Dr. Ali Basti, Chancellor of the University of Guilan, welcomed the Russian delegation and highlighted the university’s scientific, research, and international capabilities. He also referenced the history of collaboration between the two universities and expressed a strong commitment to enhancing bilateral interactions with Astrakhan State University.
The meeting included Dr. Ali Bani, vice president for research and technology, and Dr. Masoud Esfahani, vice president for educational affairs. They emphasized the role of the Association of the State Universities of the Caspian Sea Region Countries and the significance of specialized commissions in technology, education, and student affairs in fostering regional connections. They called for the expansion of scientific cooperation among member universities of the Association. Dr. Ekaterina Pakhomova, Vice President for International Scientific Affairs, and Dr. Galina Stankovich, Vice President for Education at Astrakhan State University, expressed their gratitude for the hospitality shown by the University of Guilan during their visit. They stressed the need to develop a roadmap for cooperation and to establish joint specialized working groups, hoping to advance the scientific relations between the two universities beyond their current state.
During the discussions, the parties explored the possibility of defining joint research projects based on topics proposed by Astrakhan State University, organizing educational workshops, and collaborating on scientific conferences. Astrakhan State University, located in Russia, is a founding member of the Caspian Sea Border Universities and Research Centers Union and has a student exchange cooperation agreement with the University of Guilan.
